The Gratitude Awards recognize everyday individuals bring the founding principles of our organization to life: Promotion of culture, importance of family and significance of service. We impact the lives of others in profound ways everyday, by way of the Gratitude Award we honour those for contributing to strengthening community.
Award Categories & Criteria:
1. Hero amongst Us Award
This award is a unique opportunity to recognize an elder (aged 60+) who has overcome barriers in starting a new life in Canada while contributing to other immigrants, seniors or the wider community.
2. Bright Star Award
Presented to a young person (aged 24 and under) who’s been a great peer mentor at school or in community. This individual has worked hard to support other youth in need, promote cultural awareness and/or volunteering.
3. Sesheme Legacy Award
This award appreciates a woman who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in her community. This woman works tirelessly to support families in need, promote cultural appreciation and/or creates and supports opportunities to volunteer.
Terms for Nomination:
1. Nominees must be nominated by another person
2. Nominees are subject to a reference check.
3. Nominees must agree to be publicly recognized and be available to attend the Gratitude Awards on May 6, 2012.
